I absolutely devoured this book. It’s pulled me in from page one weaving me into the pages as the story took hold. The world building was incredible and it was dark but also lighthearted too. I couldn’t put it down. Thank you so much
WOW! I sincerely cannot express how much I enjoyed this story! I could not put it down! The author builds the most intense suspense.... I would give it ten stars if I could!
I absolutely loved Once Upon a Midnight Dreary by Michelle Miles. From the very first page, the story swept me into its darkly beautiful world of crumbling manors, lost legacies, and forbidden love. Miles captures that perfect gothic atmosphere—haunting, romantic, and tinged with melancholy—without ever feeling heavy or overdone.Victoria Ravenwood is such a compelling heroine: strong yet vulnerable, haunted by her past but unwilling to let it define her. Her return to Ravenfell Manor feels like stepping into a dream she can’t quite wake from. And then there’s Gabriel—mysterious, brooding, loyal in ways that break your heart. The slow burn between them is breathtaking; every glance and secret felt earned and deeply emotional. What I loved most is how the book honors its inspiration from Poe’s The Raven while still standing entirely on its own. The prose is lush and cinematic, the house itself becomes a living character, and the story balances romance, sorrow, and hope in a way that lingers long after you close the final page.If you love gothic romance, haunting settings, or stories where love defies darkness, this book is an absolute must-read. Five stars from me—completely enchanting and unforgettable.
This is a beautiful story that I didn't know I needed!!! The author does an incredible job of setting the scene and has a poetic way of immersing you in the story. Victoria and Gabriel have a delightfully slow-burn chemistry in the middle of a haunted house backdrop. No spice, but with storytelling like this you don't even miss it!Heads up if this is the first book in the series you've read: it's a story within a story! The prologue is setting the scene for the actual story!I was sent an early copy of this book but that doesn't affect my review at all, I absolutely LOVED it!
I literally had to force myself to stop reading and get sleep. Definite an all-nighter read. Haunted House. Curse. Forbidden love. Suspense. Paranormal activity. I never got into Edgar Allen Poe’s work as he is too dark and moody for me but this retelling of The Raven had me riveted. Definitely recommend.I received a complimentary copy from BookFunnel and voluntarily leave an honest review.
I know it isn’t the Anna Walker series but it seems fitting. This introduces the journey Anna endures when she learns she is predetestined for a specific task. What amazes me is that this book can imply many meanings. We are in Anna’s perspective and get her thoughts and happenings. We get her background and learn why she feels the way she feels. Interactive. Passionate with all the emotions and interesting encounters with both Fallen and Heavenly beings. I like how God is real and how one person can play an important role (like Jesus, John the Baptist, Moses, Paul etc). We are left with a mystery of how Anna will accomplish her tasks and if she will submit to temptation. Great story. Eager for book 2, Blood and Bone.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
